Boarding School and Land Allotment Eras 1879-1933
1928
Meriam Report is issued
A three-year study is commissioned to examine the economies, health, education, and government administration of Indian affairs and trust funds. The report is ahead of its time, noting the failures of the allotment policy and advocating support for Indian community and life, protection of Indian property rights, and new initiatives in health and education. The findings help usher in reforms beginning in 1934, known as the Indian New Deal. (https://www.encyclopedia.com/history/dictionaries-thesauruses-pictures-and-press-releases/meriam-report)
